We are an 80 place kindergarten located in the beautiful French Quarter of Shanghai just off Yongjia Road. We accept enrolments from Chinese and foreign students aged between 2-6 years old.

Our goal at Hills Kindy is to provide a safe and secure learning environment of discovery and development, which promotes imagination, exploration and creativity. Based on the concept that our staff are here to nurture and guide your children along their learning journey, we provide a stimulating environment allowing children to construct their knowledge from hands-on experience that is meaningful to them. They are also engaged in teacher-guided activities that strengthen their cognitive and language development in ways that best suit the individual needs and differences of each child. We focus on the development of the whole child, understanding the importance of balancing social, emotional, intellectual and physical growth.

At Hills Kindy our children are encouraged to investigate and explore their interests, and express their ideas and thoughts. Our teachers work alongside the children to encourage and support them in their learning. They provide guidance and stimulation to inspire and motivate the students in their quest for learning.

The motivation of following one’s own interests ensures the child will strive to learn from experience. The teachers monitor and predict the styles of learning so as to enable purposeful experiences. In this way, teachers and students construct and negotiate the curriculum together.

Drop Off & Sign In/Out Procedure 接送流程：
The safety of your child is of paramount importance to us. When you enrol your child with us we will ask you for an approved list of adults who can collect your child in the afternoons. As a result we will not allow anyone to sign your child out who is not on the approved sign-out list for your child. If you wish to add to this list throughout the year you will need to inform us in writing.

Each person on your child’s approved list will be provided with a security card that is specifically coded for your child. This card must be used to sign-in in the morning and sign-out at the end of the day. ONLY adults with the correct security card and who are on the approved list for your child will be permitted to collect your child from our care.
每一个家长的通行证上的卡号是专属于您的孩子。这张卡只有在接送是才有效。也只有这张卡我们才让您的学生安全离开。
Punctuality 准时
Your punctuality is appreciated, modelling appropriate habits for your child and ensuring that minimal disruption is made to the daily program. Please advise us if you may be late collecting your child so he/she does not become distressed. 感谢你能准时接送您的孩子，如果您有事耽误接送请及时告知我们。
Independence 独立
We encourage children to be independent in caring for their personal needs and belongings. For example, we expect them to carry their own bag, put shoes and hats away and help determine when they need go to the toilet.

Photographs 相片
A commercial photographer will take photographs in Term 1 of each Kindergarten year. Parents are not obligated to purchase the photographs. The staff also use photographs for displaying the children in their learning environment. If you have any concerns with this practice, please see staff to ensure that photographs will not be taken of your child at these times and that permission slips are completed on your enrolment forms.

Noticeboards 公告板
Noticeboards are located in the entrance foyer and outside each classroom. Please read them regularly as they inform and share Kindergarten and Community news.

Newsletter 通告
This is sent home to each family approximately three times per term. It will keep you informed about what is happening at the kindergarten, meetings, important dates and curriculum information.

Communication Diary 备忘录
Each child will be provided with a Communication Diary. Teachers will write a short message every Friday. Please make an effort to read the diary each week and sign it. This is an excellent avenue of communication between your child’s class teachers and yourself.

Illness at Kindergarten 在幼儿园生病
If a child is unwell prior to coming to kindergarten, we ask that they be kept at home. Children with contagious or infectious diseases including diarrhoea, vomiting, raised temperatures and “green” noses are not allowed to attend kindergarten. If the child appears to develop a need for medical attention during their Kindy day eg. raised temperature, the staff will contact you or your emergency contacts.

In an emergency there will be no hesitation in calling an ambulance. Parents/caregivers or the emergency contacts on your child’s information sheet will be contacted as soon as it is possible.

Please inform the kindergarten of any allergies eg. bee stings, chronic complaints, asthma, regular medications used or medic alert numbers.

Food 食物
Our cooking staff at Hills Kindy will provide students with morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea. Our menus are specifically designed to provide our students with a healthy, nutritionally balanced diet. We will have a mixture of Chinese and Western food available.

Fire Policy 消防政策
At Hills Kindy we continuously ensure that the safety of the children comes first. Regular checks are carried out of the school and school grounds to ensure that all fire exits and fire routes are clear and there are no fire hazards.

• A kindergarten bag which is easy for your child to open, with a spare set of named clothes.
